Timothée Chalamet
Timothée Chalamet is a once-in-a-generation movie star who almost single-handedly redefined what leading men can look like and the paths they can take to superstardom. He grew up in Manhattan, and attended that borough's famed performing-arts-focused LaGuardia High School. His first significant role was on the series Homeland, but he broke through with his extraordinary performance as a lovestruck teen in 2017's Call Me By Your Name, which garnered a Best Actor nomination at the Academy Awards.
From there, he had a string of successes in indie films and dramas, from Beautiful Boy to Little Women to The French Dispatch. But Chalamet had always wanted to act in larger-scale movies, auditioning again and again for franchise roles early in his career. In 2021, he debuted as the messianic Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's masterful Dune: Part One, becoming the action star of his dreams. He took on another franchise in 2023's Willy Wonka prequel Wonka, and Dune: Part Two followed in 2024.
Even as he filmed those movies, Chalamet spent four years prepping for what he'd call "the role of my lifetime," playing Bob Dylan in James Mangold's A Complete Unknown, also in 2024. —Brian Hiatt
